Transportation

Metro Jackson is located at the intersection of two major interstate highways: I-55, running north and south from Chicago to New Orleans, and I-20, which runs east and west from South Carolina to Texas, crossing through Atlanta and Dallas. The Natchez Trace Parkway, one of the nation’s only two park roadway systems, winds from Nashville to Natchez and is routed through the metro area. Jackson International Airport provides travelers with access to any destination in the world, and inland water transportation is available via the Port of Vicksburg. Mississippi’s capital city offers its residents everything from air to rail to road transportation, making the area a prime center for commerce and tourism.

Jackson International Airport (JIA) is the commercial airport serving the Metro Jackson area, and is located within 500 miles of approximately 76 major metropolitan areas and more than one-third of the nation’s population. JIA maintains two 8,500-foot runways and has 40 flights departing daily.
