Hurricane Katrina Student Evacuee Enrollment Information
1. Families that are displaced by the Hurricane and who are temporarily living or staying in the Hinds County School District are eligible to enroll at one of the following schools where space is currently available: Bolton Edwards Elem./Middle, Carver Middle, Raymond Elementary, Raymond High, or Utica Elem./Middle schools.

2. In addition to our regular bus routes, bus transportation will be provided from the Byram/Terry area to the Raymond schools. Beginning Wednesday, September 7th, students can enroll at one of these schools. Due to overcrowding, no displaced students may enroll at the Gary Road, Byram or Terry schools. Students temporarily residing in the Terry High feeder pattern may pick up registration information at Gary Road Intermediate School, 7255 Gary Road, 601.372.8150.

3. We anticipate that new students will be able to start school on Monday, September 12th once staffing, transportation and other logistical concerns are resolved.

4. Please bring any identification or documentation such as a driver's license, car registration, car insurance, blank check, etc. showing your former address and confirming that you resided in one of the impacted communities to the school to complete the enrollment card and supplemental information form. You will ultimately need to provide residency documentation from the family that you are residing with or information about the temporary shelter where you are located.

School staff will be going to shelters to register children

(Small shelters may need to call 601-852-5590 to let the School staff know that children in that shelter need to registered at a school. If a school staff has not visited the shelter by Thursday, September 8^th, the parent will need to go to the school that the child will be attending.

If staying with relatives or in a hotel:

Parents can go to the school that the child will be attending.

Children will be registered starting Wednesday, September 7^th
